Maintaining a Facebook Page that keeps your fans engaged can be extremely challenging. It takes research, creativity, regular monitoring, time and dedication to come up with fresh content. In addition, best practices in social media engagement are often in flux as new technology and trends are introduced. If you’re concerned about dwindling engagement or feeling stuck on what to post next, take a look at these tips for Facebook Page success to gain some insight and inspiration.

1. Post When Your Audience Is Active

You know that the number of people who see your posts is a key factor into the level of engagement on your Facebook Page, but everyone has a different pattern for the time they spend online. Therefore, it makes sense to stay on top of your analytics in order to time your posts strategically. Fortunately, Facebook makes it fairly easy to do that with their useful tool, Facebook Insights. Here you can view your dashboard to analyze various types of data such as the times your fans are most active in general or even compare blocks of time. This insight will allow you to tailor your posting schedule in a more effective manner. This process may take some tweaking, but it’s worth the effort.

2. Ask for Feedback

People usually love to give their opinion. So give them the opportunity to do just that by asking for specific feedback regarding your business or brand. You can create an eye-catching graphic with your inquiry or simply ask a question in a status update. This approach will encourage interaction, and it can serve another practical purpose of helping you to improve your offerings.

3. Boost High-Performing Content

If you have a blog to supplement your brand, it’s often a good move to publish your best posts on your Facebook Page as a means of driving traffic and inviting audience interaction. With a relatively small monetary investment, you can boost that post so more people will see it. Doing so is often worth it because increased engagement puts your content in front of even more viewers.

4. Make Them Laugh

Some of the most frequently shared memes on Facebook are humorous ones. Everyone could use a little laughter in their day, so consider adding such posts to your agenda. Take great effort to use humor that won’t be perceived as offensive or crude, and be sure it’s relevant to your audience’s interests. Brightening your audience’s day is sure to elicit some positive engagement.

5. Get Emotional

Not only do people love to laugh, they also respond positively to content that appeals to their other emotions. Find ways to tie your brand to human emotion, and you can bet people will respond. Content that tugs at the heartstrings, is relatable or makes them shake their heads is likely to result in your fans responding to your posts and sharing them with their followers.

6. Just Ask

Another action that’s sure to get your fans to engage is simply to ask questions. It’s difficult to pass by an enticing question without adding your two cents. Always ask open-ended questions rather than ones that can be answered with a simple yes or no. This way you can find out what they really think, respond to select answers and increase the chances of continuing the conversation. Questions can be about anything related to your brand and your audience’s interests. Make it compelling, but avoid controversial or sensitive topics. We’ve all seen social media campaigns of this nature that have gone horribly wrong.

7. Give a Call to Action

It’s always recommended that you provide a call to action at the end of your posts. A call to action is simply a request for what you’d like your readers to do. You can request that they like your post, share it, answer your question, share their opinion or opt-in to your email list. Telling your audience what you’d like them to do is an acceptable and successful move.

8. Add Value

Above all else, you must always add value to the lives of your readers. Ask yourself whether your content is valuable to those who read your content prior to posting, and you’ll have a winner almost every time. It’s important to constantly be thinking of your customers, clients or fans in every marketing action you take.

12 Ideas for List Building FreebiesYou probably know that giving away something of value is a great way to build your list quickly. Coming up with the ideas of list building freebies can be tricky though. Here is a list of proven list build freebies that you can use to help you brainstorm.

1. Make a simple PDF that would be of interest to your target market. Word, OpenOffice and most other popular word processors have a “save as PDF” option. By saving your text into PDF format it protects your work.

2. Use a screen capture software such as Jing, Camtasia or Screencast-O-Matic to record a video of your screen. Videos are a great way to share how-to-videos.

3. Record your voice into an MP3 file. Podcasts are growing lately as more and more people are listening to content versus reading or watching it.

4. Create a buyer's guide, walking someone through every step of a particular buying or shopping process.

5. You could offer a valuable coupon for one of your products.

6. Create a short 5 or 7-day email course that solves a problem that your target market has.

7. Give away a free preview to your eBook or product. By giving away a part of your product you will entice your new list member to purchase the complete product.

8. Checklists are simple to create and people love them!

9. Do a video review of a product or service. Show yourself using the product. Include your affiliate link, and your may just make a sale as well as gain a new list member.

10. Give away a free consultation. This allows you to talk with your new list member and see exactly how you can help them.

11. Interview an expert in your field and give away the recording.

12. Access to a training webinar or teleseminar. People are looking for help and webinars offer great value.

5 Tips for List Building Beginners

Email ListIf you are building your business online then you need to have an email list.  An email list is simply a list of people who have given you their email in exchange for a free gift or to get onto your newsletter.

An email list is not a list that you can just send offer after offer after offer.  Your email list is made up of real people who are looking for an answer or help to their problem.  You want to treat this list of people very well.  They are after all your potential customers and team members.

You can offer them tips and solutions that will make their lives easier.  You can build an email list around anything.  An important thing to remember is that they gave you their email to get information about a certain item.  If you are offering information on make-up, let's say, then keep your emails centered around that.  Don't start offering tips on candles.  That won't make sense to your list.  They gave you their information to learn about make-up not candles.  If you wanted to start talking about candles you would start a new list for that.

1 – Make Your Opt-In Freebie Valuable, Something Worth Paying For

People will only trade their email information if they feel that they are getting something valuable in return.  Make your Freebie something that people are going to want.

2 – Use a Reliable, “Big Name” Email Autrosponder Service

Aweber, Get Response and Mail Chimp are well-known and respected email autoresponder services. Stick with one of those 3 (or another experienced and popular provider) to make the process as comfortable for you and your subscribers as possible.

I personally use Aweber and have had great service.  They also have a phone number that you can call and get help.

3 – Place your Opt-In Form Above the Fold on Your Website

Above the fold means that your opt-in should be at the top of your site.  Your visitors should not have to scroll to see your opt-in form.  By placing it at the top of your site more people will actually see it.

4 – Start Today

The sooner that you get started building your list the better!  I'm sure that you have heard it before, “The money is in the list” and that is very true.  The sooner you learn how to use your autoresponder the better.  Don't let it scare you and become overwhelmed.  Take your time and learn it.  The number 1 thing that most online marketers regret is that they didn't start building their list soon enough.

5 – Don't Start Selling Right Away

I know you want to start making money from your list. However, your first 4 or 5 emails should all be quality content only, no sales pitches. Follow-up your opt-in bribe with a “Thank You” email that surprises your subscribers with another high-quality and free piece of content. Follow that email up with at least 1 or 2 more problem-solving, solution producing emails. Only then should you start thinking about trying to make a sales pitch.

Home Business or Work-at-Home Job There are many reasons you may want to work from home.  Maybe you just had a child and want more work-life balance, or perhaps you are close to retiring and looking to add some extra income to your monthly budget.  It could be that you have an illness that makes it difficult for you to get out of the house. Or maybe you just like being home and want the freedom to work your own way.

Whatever the reasons you want to work at home, you’ll need to choose whether or not you want a job from home, or you want a business from home. Here are eight questions to help you decide.

  1. Are You Self-Motivated?

If you want your own business so that you can set your own hours, you will need to be very self-motivated. You’ll need to take time out of your day for marketing, interviewing clients, closing the deal and then doing the work too. You’ll be 100 percent responsible for delivering the work, billing and collecting. You’ll even be responsible for deciding the methods you’ll use to do the work. To do that you’ll need to be a very self-motivated individual.

  1. What Skills Do You Have?

Take a out a piece of paper and write down a list of the skills you currently have.  What do you love to do? Can any of these translate into a business? Label them as “Job from Home” or “Home Business”.  Do any of these translate into common work-from-home positions such as call center agent or transcriptionist? Some skills may cross over into both.  Look over the list and see what resonates with you.  What brings you the most Joy?

  1. What Sort of Lifestyle Do You Want?

woman-791185_1920Do you want your day to be scheduled for you or do you want to have control over your schedule?  With a work-at-home job your time is often set by the company and you have to “show up” at your scheduled time.  On the other hand, if you have your own home business you can set your own schedule and work in the nook and crannies of your day.

  1. Do You Already Have a Business Idea?

If you have already researched a business idea, and feel as if you want to do that instead of working for someone else, can you pull it off? What steps do you need to take to make it a reality? Are you the type of person who is able to organize and take the steps needed to get your business off the ground? Can you find and afford help if you’re not sure what to do to get the business going? Does the thought of all this stress you out?

  1. How Do You Feel about Punching a Clock?

For some people the idea of clock punching is relaxing, for others, it feels like a nightmare. Neither feeling is right or wrong as it takes all types of people to make this world work. If you know up front that you are fine with punching a clock and you’d rather someone else tell you when to be someplace and what to do, then a work-at-home job is best for you. If that feels like prison to you, then a business is probably better if you can do what it takes to get it going.

  1. Do You Have Money to Start a Business?

Starting any type of business, even an online business, requires an investment not only of time, but also of money. Have you worked out a business plan and do you know how much money you need to get started? Do you have that money available? If not, do you have a way to get it? Perhaps working at a job first, while you work on your business on the side, is the way to go if you don’t have the funds to start.

  1. Do You Need Training and Education?

Whichever way you decide to go, you may need some training and education in order to perform the tasks at hand.  Decide if you want to invest in the training yourself to get your business off the ground, or if you would prefer to find a work-at-home job where they will train you from the ground up.  Keep in mind that most work at home jobs are paid by the hour.

  1. What Is Your Biggest Dream for Your Life?

When you think of the future, what do you see?  Do you see yourself working for someone else and collecting a weekly or bi-weekly check?  Or do you see yourself as a business owner who is charge of every aspect of your life.  Again, there is no right or wrong answer, it is totally up to you.  Dream BIG!   What do you want?
